Cops Charge Forked River Man With Theft Of Almost $10,000 From Two Burglaries At Same House

Robert Goffio facing two charges each for burglary and theft, Police Chief David A. Paprota said.

Lacey police recently charged a Lacey man with breaking into a Tampa Road home not once, but twice, stealing $10,000 worth of items, Police Chief David A. Paprota said.

Officer Patrick Watkins responded to 1006 Tampa Road in the Forked River Beach section of Forked River at 4:36 p.m. on April 23 on a burglary report.

The victim told police that sometime between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. on April 23 someone kicked in the side door of the home and stole roughly $6,000 of items from inside the home, the chief said.

The stolen items included a Playstation 4, two Playstation controllers, 40 Playstation games, 80 DVD/Blue Ray’s, a gold necklace, and a quartz watch. Detective Keith Pearce responded to the scene and initiated the follow-up investigation, Paprota said.

The same house was previously burglarized on March 3, 2016, when $3,500 in cash was stolen. Pearce's investigation led to the arrest of Robert Goffio, 34, 1205 Ocean Street in Forked River on Wednesday, April 27, 2016, the chief said.

Goffio, an associate of the victim, was charged after he was found with specific pieces of jewelry stolen during the entries. He was charged with two counts each of burglary and theft and taken to the Ocean County Jail in Toms River in lieu of $20,000 bail, Paprota said.
