Drunken Man Mistakenly Smashes Windows Of Wrong Car: Lacey Police Blotter

The drunken man locked his keys in his car and bought a hammer to smash in the window - only he went to the wrong car, per Lacey police.

LACEY, NJ — A drunken man locked his keys in his car and tried to smash the windows to get them back only to find himself at the wrong car, two quads were stolen from someone's garage and many more incidents were reported to Lacey police in the past month, according to the May Lacey police blotter.

Shoplifting
On Friday, May 3, 2024, at 1456 hours, Officer Plis and Officer Lepeshko responded to Walmart for a male shoplifter. Angel Bonafe-Loperena, 40, of Barnegat, attempted to steal a wallet and watch valued at $31.97. Angel was found to have a warrant out of Atlantic County Sheriff’s Department, in the amount of $5,000.00. Angel was charged with shoplifting on a warrant and transported to the Ocean County Correctional Facility.

Warrant Arrest
On Friday, May 3, 2024, at 21:48 hours, Officer Keefe and Officer Morrone responded to 2324 Holly Road to investigate an incident. While investigating, Michael Latorre, 48, Forked River, was found to have several outstanding warrants. Michael was placed under arrest and transported to headquarters where he posted bail for each warrant. Michael was released with a new court date

Warrant Arrest
On Monday, May 6, 2024, at 0820 hours, Officer Ricciardella responded to the 500 block of Elwood Street, Forked River, for warrant service. While on location he located Brenna Haase, 45, of Forked River, who had multiple active warrants. Brenna was placed under arrest for the warrants and later transported to the Ocean County Correctional facility

DWI
On Monday, May 6, 2024 at 1851 hours, officers responded to the Walmart parking lot to check the welfare of an adult male who was reportedly unconscious inside a vehicle. Officers made contact with the driver, Richard Roberts, 60, of Forked River, who was conscious and alert. Investigation at the scene revealed that Richard had operated his vehicle while impaired, and he was arrested and transported to police headquarters. He was issued summonses for DWI and Reckless Driving then released to a family member.

Shoplifting
On May 7, 2024 at 1140 hours Officer Tranz responded to Walmart for a report of a female shoplifter. Upon arrival Officer Tranz met with Loss Prevention, who reported Savannah Alshon, 27, concealed items totaling $108.07, and attempted to leave the store without paying. Savannah was arrested and transported to police headquarters where she was processed and released on a summons.

DWI/Criminal Mischief
On Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at 2101 hours, officers responded to the Home Depot parking lot for a report of an adult male smashing the windows of a vehicle. Upon their arrival, officers observed the suspect, Joseph Costic, Jr, 42, of Forked River, seated in the driver’s seat of a blue Chrysler sedan. Investigation revealed that Joseph drove to Home Depot earlier in the evening to shop, and accidentally locked his keys in his vehicle. When Joseph realized he had done so, he began smashing the window of the vehicle he believed was his using a hammer he had just purchased. Mistakenly, Joseph, smashed the window out of someone else’s vehicle. Further investigation revealed that Joseph drove to Home Depot while intoxicated. He was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters for processing. Joseph was issued motor vehicle summonses for DWI and Reckless Driving, charged with Criminal Mischief, Trespassing and Weapons offenses on a complaint summons then released to a family member

DWI
On Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at 1932 hours, Officer Walsh responded to headquarters to speak with Melodie Modrzecki, 50, of Ocean Township regarding an incident. Officer Walsh quickly realized that Melodie was under the influence and confirmed she had driven to headquarters. Melodie was placed under arrest. Melodie was issued traffic summonses for DWI and Reckless Driving. Melodie was also charged with Possession of CDS, Use/Being Under the Influence of CDS, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia on a complaint summons. Melodie was released to her friend after being served with her criminal complaint and motor vehicle summonses

Shoplifting
On Saturday, May 11, 2024, at 16:00 hours, Officer Lepeshko and Detective Shaffer responded to Walmart for a report of a female shoplifter in custody, and who was also suspected in several other shopliftings. Officers met with Loss Prevention, who reported Eulalia Beatriz Chunchi Granda, who was with her two children, under rang $415.80 worth of baby formula. Further investigation revealed that Eulalia was involved in several other shopliftings in Lacey Township, Neptune Township and Freehold Township. Eulalia was placed under arrest and transported to headquarters. Eulalia was processed and charged on a total of 8 criminal summonses for shoplifting.

DWI
On Saturday, May 11, 2024, at 22:32 hours, Officer Gant and Officer Keefe responded to the Captain’s Inn for a report of an intoxicated female attempting to enter her vehicle. Upon arrival, officers located Joann Tomaino, 56, sitting in the driver’s seat of a vehicle. The investigation at the scene lead to her arrest for DWI. Joann was transported to headquarters and later charged with DWI, Reckless Driving and Refusal to Submit Breath Samples prior to being released to a friend.

Fire
On May 14, 2024, at 1438 hours, Lacey Township Police, Forked River Fire Department, Lanoka Harbor Fire Department, and Lanoka Harbor EMS responded to 312 Bayside East Parkway for a structure fire. Upon arrival it was discovered a small shed in the back yard of the residence was fully engulfed in flames. Forked River and Lanoka Harbor Fire arrived and quickly extinguished the fire. The fence of several adjacent properties were damaged and there were no injuries reported. Lacey Township Detective Bureau and the Ocean County Fire Marshal responded to process the scene. The homeowner, Martin Dolly, 64, was issued a summons for an open burn.

Motor Vehicle Crash/DWI
On Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at 0305 hours, Officer Copes and Officer Fusciello responded to Route 539, near mile marker 18, for a report of a motor vehicle that crashed into a tree. Upon arrival, officers met with the driver, Andrew Diaz, 40, who displayed objective signs of impairment and was placed under arrest for DWI. Andrew was transported to police headquarters for processing. Andrew was charged on traffic summonses for DWI and Reckless Driving and on a criminal complaint for Being Under the Influence prior to being released to a family member

Warrant Arrest
On Thursday, May 16, 2024, at 1600 hours, Officer Tranz responded to headquarters for a report in the lobby. Officer Tranz was met by Jonathan Vecci, 36, Lanoka Harbor, and was aware that Jonathan had two outstanding warrants for his arrest. Jonathan was placed under arrest later transported to Ocean County Correctional Facility without incident.

Burglary, Theft
On Friday, May 17, 2024, at 0656 hours, Officer Michael Hutman responded to the 1200 block of Olds Street for a report of a burglary to the residence with two quads stolen. Upon arrival, Officer Hutman met with the victim who reported sometime between 05/16/24 and 05/17/24, unknown persons entered the garage of the residence through an unlocked window. The actor(s) opened the garage door and pushed out two quads with a total value of approximately $28,000. This investigation ongoing.

Warrant Arrest/Weapons Offense
On Friday, May 17, 2024, at 2103 hours, while investigating an incident, Mark Forte, 34, Pittman, NJ was found to have an outstanding warrant for his arrest. Mark was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters. Mark was released on his own recognizance for the outstanding warrant but then charged on a criminal complaint warrant for Certain Persons not to Possess Weapons and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon. Mark was later transported to the Ocean County Correctional Facility

Burglary, Theft
On Saturday, May 18, 2024, at 0724 hours, Officer Plis responded to the 300 block of Constitution Drive for a report of a burglary to a shed where a dirt bike, valued at approximately $7,500.00, was stolen. Upon arrival, the victim stated sometime between 05/17/24 and 05/18/24, unknown person(s) pried open the shed door and removed the dirt bike. Investigation ongoing.

Check Welfare, Eluding, Resisting Arrest, Obstruction, Hindering, Possession of CDS with Intent to Distribute
On Saturday, May 18, 2024, at 1006 hours, Officer Holt, Officer Hutman, Officer Lepeshko, and Sgt. Nick responded to a wooded trail off of Spaulding Avenue for a report of an unconscious male in a vehicle. Upon arrival, Officers observed the vehicle and made contact with the male driver, who was unconscious, with a crack pipe in his hand. There was also an unconscious female in the passenger seat. Officers knocked on the window and awoke the male. The male proceeded to start the vehicle and took off on Officers, crashing into two trees while exiting the trail and leaving the area. The vehicle was later recovered in the woods nearby where CDS and paraphernalia were found. Several hours later, a citizen informed this agency he observed a male and female walk out from the woods and cross over the parkway overpass. Officers responded to the area and located Joshua Burns, 35, of New Hampshire and Sara Jean Sanchez, 29, of Massachusetts and placed them under arrest. A search of Josh revealed a brick of Heroin and other drugs, a scale, cash, a knife, and a loaded handgun on Josh’s person. Both subjects were transported to headquarters and processed. Josh was charged with Eluding, Resisting Arrest, Obstruction, Hindering Apprehension, Possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, Unlawful possession of a weapon, unlawful possession of a firearm, Possession of a Firearm for unlawful purpose, possession of a high capacity magazine, Possession of a handgun during a CDS offense, possession with the intent to distribute, (2) counts of CDS Possession, possession of drug paraphernalia, Under the influence of CDS, Certain Person not to possess a weapon, and Certain Person not to possess a firearm. Josh was later transported to Ocean County Correctional Facility after being served his criminal complaints and motor vehicle summonses. Sara was charged with being under the influence, possession of CDS, Possession of drug paraphernalia, and Obstruction then also transported to Ocean County Correctional Facility.

DWI
On Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at 2138 hours, Officer Triano conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for an expired registration. Officer Triano met with the driver, Carole Dzubaty, 44, of Forked River. Further investigation revealed that Carole had been operating her vehicle while intoxicated, and she was subsequently placed under arrest. Carole was transported to police headquarters and provided breath samples. Carole was issued summonses for DWI, Reckless Driving, and Expired Registration. Carole was released to a family member after being served with her motor vehicle summonses.

Burglary, Criminal Mischief
On Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at 0142 hours, officers responded to Garden State Smoke and Vape for an alarm call at the business. Upon arrival, Officer Spina discovered that the front door of the business had been shattered. Officer Spina quickly cleared the business and found a cash drawer open. This investigation is ongoing.

Burglary/ Theft/ Criminal Mischief
On Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at 0918 hours, Officer Alan Abrecht responded to 136 South Main Street for a report of a burglary to a business. Upon arrival Officer Abrecht met with the business owner who reported when he arrived at the business he discovered the glass of the front door had been smashed in an apparent forced entry. The owner stated he entered the store and observed the cash register had been emptied of approximately $500.00. This investigation is ongoing

Motor Vehicle Stop/Warrant Arrest
On Thursday, May 23, 2024, at 1744 hours, Officer Biel conducted a motor vehicle stop near the intersection of Bay Way and Route 9 North for suspended registration. Contact was made with the registered owner/driver, Ronald Anderson Jr, 37, of Lanoka Harbor, who was also found to have two outstanding traffic warrants. Ronald was placed under arrest and transported to headquarters. At headquarters Ronald was released on his own recognizance for both of the warrants.

Burglary
On Saturday, May 25, 2024, at approximately 0427 hours, officers responded to Home Town Market for an iterior motion alarm. Upon arrival, officer observed that both the exterior and interior glass doors of the establishment were smashed. Officers cleared the store without incident and searched the area with negative contact. This investigation is ongoing.

Attempted Burglary
On Saturday, May 25, 2024, at approximately 0427 hours, officers observed that the exterior door to the Garden State Smoke Shop was cracked with two rocks lying nearby. Investigation at the scene revealed that someone attempted to gain entry to the establishment, but ultimately failed. The owners of the business were advised and later responded as the scene was being processed

Theft, Hindering, Obstruction
On Saturday, May 25, 2024 at 1334 hours, Officers Hyle and Nilon responded to 7-Eleven, 403 North Main Street, for a report of a female who stole a male’s phone. Upon arrival, Officer Hyle met with the victim who indicated that Danielle Grainger, 40, stole his phone while they were together at his residence. Officer Hyle approached the subjects to speak about the incident when Danielle disregarded Officer Hyle’s order to stop and walked away from the scene. Officer Hyle located Danielle walking south on Route 9 in front of Kohl’s where she provided multiple different names and dates so birth. Danielle was placed under arrest for obstruction and search incident to arrest, located several glass smoking devices, as well as several NJ Driver’s licenses and credit cards inside of a wallet that did not belong to her. Danielle was charged on criminal complaint warrant for Obstruction, Hindering Apprehension, Theft of Property Lost or Mislaid, False Information to Law Enforcement and Drug Paraphernalia then transported to Ocean County Correctional Facility.

Shoplifting
On Saturday, May 25, 2024, at 1440 hours, Officer Nilon responded to Walmart for a report of a female adult shoplifter in custody. Upon arrival, Officer Nilon learned that Gabriella Terrill, 33, of Forked River, walked out of Walmart with $78 worth of merchandise without paying for the items. Gabriella was placed under arrest and transported to headquarters where she was processed. Gabriella was charged with Shoplifting on a complaint summons then released.

DWI
On Saturday, May 25, 2024, at 1905 hours, Officer Swain and Officer Labbate responded to the Caffrey’s Backyard for an intoxicated male urinating outside his vehicle. Officers arrived on scene and located Michael Favor Jr, 74, of Forked River, who was presenting signs of intoxication. Michael was later placed under arrest for DWI and transported to police headquarters. Michael was issued traffic summonses for Driving While Intoxicated and Reckless Driving then released to a family member.

DWI
On Saturday, May 25, 2024, at 2348 hours, Officer Morrone and Officer Labbate responded to the McDonald’s parking lot after a third party caller reported an unresponsive male leaning up against a light pole, next to a motorcycle. Officers arrived on the scene and located Michael Maffiore, 50, of Toms River. Michael was later placed under arrest for DWI. Michael was transported to headquarters and processed. Michael was served summonses for DWI and Reckless Driving then released to a family member.

DWI
On Monday, May 27, 2024, at 1837 hours, Officer Primavera responded to the Wawa, 444 Route 9 South, for a report of a male stumbling around the parking lot, enter a vehicle and drive away. Officer Primavera located the vehicle and observed the driver failing to maintain his lane. After conducting a motor vehicle stop, Officer Primavera discovered the driver, Gary Pezzolla, 60, of Forked River, was presenting signs of intoxication. Gary was ultimately placed under arrest for DWI and transported to headquarters for processing. Gary was issued summonses for DWI, Reckless Driving, and Failure to Maintain Lane and later released to his friend.

Shoplifting
On Friday, May 31, 2024, at 1521 hours, Officer Nilon responded to Walmart for a report of a female shoplifter in custody. Upon arrival Officer Nilon met with Loss Prevention who reported Christine Jenkins, 54, of Toms River, attempted to steal $253.00 worth of items. Christine was placed under arrest and transported to headquarters. Once processed, Christine was served her complaint summons for shoplifting and released
