Forked River Woman Among 3 Busted For Drugs, Weapons: Police

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ — A Forked River resident was among three people charged after drugs and guns were found inside a car that was blocking traffic in Atlantic City, police said.

Aubrey Costello, 25, of Forked River, was charged along with Vincente Scalzo, 36, of New Port Richey, Florida and Lamar Dew, 36, of Atlantic City, police said in a news release.

K9 Officer Adrian Nunez-Santos saw an illegally parked vehicle blocking traffic around 9:30 a.m. near California and Fairmont Avenues on March 23, police said.

Scalzo, the driver, opened his door for Nunez-Santos, who "immediately" saw drug paraphernalia on the car's floor, police said. He took Scalzo out of the car and arrested him.

Costello and Dew, other occupants of the car, were similarly taken into custody, police said. A search of the vehicle uncovered two loaded handguns, small amounts of heroin and methamphetamine, and drug paraphernalia, police said.

Dew also had an active warrant for his arrest, police said.

Scalzo was charged with possession of CDS (two counts), unlawful possession of a weapon, certain person not to possess a weapon and possession of CDS paraphernalia (three counts).

Costello was charged with possession of CDS (two counts), unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of CDS paraphernalia (two counts).

Dew was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, certain person not to possess a weapon, and possession of CDS paraphernalia (two counts).
