LACEY, N.J. — David Supsie’s job required putting his life on the line for others. With stage 4 colon cancer, the former Lacey cop is hanging on and keeping positive, but he could use the community’s help.

Supsie recently underwent surgery in an attempt to remove a tumor, according to Lacey Police Captain Patrick Ganley, who created a GoFundMe for Supsie’s medical expenses. Unfortunately, doctors couldn’t remove the tumor due to its advanced stage.

Lacey Township PBA 238 will hold a fundraiser for Supsie from 6 to 10 p.m. May 3 at Joey Harrison’s River House (361 E Lacey Rd., Forked River). And the community rallied to raise $11,686 in three weeks through 95 GoFundMe donations. He’s remained upbeat, according to Ganley.

“Despite his current situation he remains positive and continues to make others laugh and smile each and every day,” Ganley said. “He is a remarkable person and truly an inspiration to us all.”

Supsie will continue to undergo chemotherapy every two weeks and is unable to work. You can help the former officer through GoFundMe or the fundraising event.

May 3’s fundraiser will include a buffet dinner, cash bar and entertainment. Tickets cost $25 each and can be purchased through Members of PBA 238.
“I thank you for any support that you can provide to David in his battle with colon cancer,” Ganley said.
