Juvenile's Joyride Ends In Arrest, Multiple Charges: Lacey Chief

Youth charged with eluding police, going through multiple stop signs

Lacey police recently charged a 17-year-old Lanoka Harbor male with eluding, speeding and reckless driving, Police Chief Michael C. DiBella said.

Officer Charles May was on patrol at 2:17 p.m. on Sept. 11 when he saw an older model Ford Explorer leave the Laurel Harbor Marina parking lot on Laurel Boulevard in Lanoka Harbor in a reckless manner, the chief said.

The vehicle traveled west on Laurel Boulevard and passed May - who was traveling east on Laurel Boulevard -- at a high rate of speed. May turned around and attempted to stop the vehicle by activating his emergency lights and siren of his police cruiser, DiBella said.
