Bobby Bobowsky’s parents were in the car when they heard the news that their son and classmate Olivia Zabroski had been voted king and queen of the Lacey Township High School’s recent senior prom.

“I screamed in the car, ”he got Prom King!” said his mother Sharon.

The two special needs students had actually gone to the prom with other people. But the Lacey Township High School class of 2015 - a class with class, as Principal James Handschuch tweeted - decided the honor of King and Queen should go to Bobby and Olivia.

“I was in shock,” said Olivia Zabroski.

The students voted online before the prom, which was June 5. The selections were kept secret until they were announced at the event, Sharon Bobowsky said. “I was very excited,” she added.

Both Bobby and Olivia will graduate on June 23. Bobby is almost 21 and Olivia is 21.

Bobby said he will probably continue working at his job at the ShopRite in Waretown.

Olivia hopes to take cooking classes at the Ocean County Vocational-Technical School.
