Lacey Cops Arrest 2 In Walmart, One For Drug Offenses, One For Shoplifting

Lacey police recently charged a Bayville man and an Atlantic City woman after the man tried to shoplift a computer from the Walmart on Route 9 in Lanoka Harbor, Police Chief David A. Paprota said.

Officer Brian Holt responded to the store at 2:16 p.m. on Jan. 24 on a shoplifting report. The loss prevention employee reported that a man removed a security device from a HP desktop computer and attempted to leave the store without paying for the item. The computer was recovered by loss prevention before the suspect exited the store and fled in a vehicle, the chief said.

The vehicle was immediately located and was stopped by Special Officer Edgaras Lenkauskas on Murray Grove Lane. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of Christopher L. Wells, 30, Roosevelt Avenue, Bayville for shoplifting, Paprota said.

Police also arrested Jessica L. Mairoano, 27, South Tennessee Avenue, Atlantic City, on an outstanding Ocean County Sheriff’s Department Child Support Warrant in the amount of $13,570; an outstanding Mahwah Township Municipal Court warrant in the amount of $1,500; an outstanding Mahwah Township Municipal Court warrant in the amount of $750; and an outstanding Absecon Township Municipal Court warrant in the amount of $658. Mairoano was also found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia and a hypodermic syringe. Both suspects were transported to Lacey Township police headquarters.

Mairoano was charged with possession of a hypodermic syringe and possession of drug paraphernalia. Mairoano was turned over to the custody of the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department. Christopher L. Wells was processed and charged with shoplifting.
