Lacey Elks Award $21K In Scholarships

The awards totaled $21,000 for Lacey Township High School seniors pursuing higher education, according to the lodge.

FORKED RIVER, NJ — Lacey Elks Lodge #2518 awarded scholarships to 21 graduating seniors from Lacey Township High School through the Elks Most Valuable Student Scholarship Program, according to a press release.

During the school’s recent awards ceremony, each student was told they would receive a $1,000 scholarship, for a total of $21,000 in assistance for higher education.

The scholarship effort was coordinated by Trudy Stolte, chairperson of the Lacey Elks Scholarship Committee. According to the lodge, Stolte helped organize this year’s awards and promoted the scholarship program for students seeking help with college costs.

“The Elks are proud to invest in the future of our community by supporting these outstanding young men and women,” said Stolte. “These students have demonstrated academic achievement, leadership, community involvement, and a commitment to excellence. We are honored to help them take the next step in their educational journey.”

According to the lodge, the Most Valuable Student Scholarship Program is sponsored by the Elks National Foundation and is one of the nation’s largest private scholarship programs. The program recognizes students for scholarship, leadership and financial need, while also encouraging continued community service and civic engagement.

The awards were part of the lodge’s broader charitable work in the Lacey area. Lacey Elks Lodge #2518 supports veterans, youth, families and local organizations through a range of community programs. The scholarship awards were described as part of the lodge’s ongoing effort to support local students and future goals.

The lodge also said letters are going out this week to winners of the Lacey Legacy scholarship. Each of those scholarships is for $1,000, according to the information provided.

In addition, the state Elks Family Scholarship application deadline is June 30. The lodge said it has more than 3,300 members, making Lacey Elks Lodge #2518 one of the largest Elks lodges in New Jersey.
