Lacey HS Senior Killed, 2 Adults Injured In Lacey Road Crash
The crash west of the Garden State Parkway shut down Lacey Road for nearly six hours on Dec. 9.
LACEY, NJ — A 17-year-old from Lacey Township was killed Saturday, Dec. 9, in a two-vehicle crash on Lacey Road, township police said Friday.
The teenager, who has been identified as Jayson Lee Cugliari by family and friends, died at the scene of the crash just west of the Garden State Parkway that was reported at 9:19 a.m. Saturday, Lacey Police Sgt. Darrell Nick said in a news release.
Cugliari was driving east on Lacey Road in a white 2012 Chevrolet Cruze when the car drove onto the shoulder, then came back onto the road and crossed into the westbound lane, where his car hit a gray 2022 Ford Bronco driven by Keith Mackenzie, 78, of Forked River. Mackenzie and his passenger, Diana Mackenzie, 67, were taken to Community Medical Center for injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening, the release said.

Lacey Road was closed for nearly six hours following the crash while authorities investigated.
In addition to Lacey police, the Forked River Fire Department, Robert Wood Johnson paramedics, the .Ocean County Sheriff’s Department CSI Unit, the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office and the Ocean County Medical Examiner’s Office also responded.

The crash remains under investigation by members of the Lacey Police Department's Crash Team. Anyone who witnessed the crash is asked to call Lacey police at 609-693-6636. The investigating officer is Patrolman Jason Lee.
