Lacey Kids: Wear A Helmet, Get Your Brain Frozen

Listen up, Lacey kids.

Obey the law and wear a helmet when you're riding your bikes, scooters and skateboards this summer.

Lacey police officers who spot children wearing their helmets this summer can stop you on the street and give you a coupon for a free ice cream, Police Chief David A. Paprota said.

"Operation Brain Freeze" will continue through Labor Day. Lacey police, Ralph's Italian Ice on Route 9 North and P.B.A. Local #238 are sponsoring the program, the chief said.

"The coupons are being provided as a community service effort to promote safety and increase the positive interaction between officers and the youth of the community," Paprota said.

Officers also have access to bicycle helmets purchased through the Lacey Municipal Police Foundation to provide to youth of the community who may be in need of a safety helmet. Any questions should be directed to Sergeant Robert Flynn at RFlynn@laceytownship.org or call 609.693.6636 x2578.
