Lacey Kids: Wear A Helmet, Get Your Brain Frozen

"Operation Brain Freeze" will run through the summer, police chief says.

Listen up, Lacey kids.

Obey the law and wear a helmet when you're riding your bikes, scooters and skateboards this summer.

Lacey police officers who spot children wearing their helmets this summer can stop you on the street and give you a coupon for a free ice cream, Police Chief David A. Paprota said.

"Operation Brain Freeze" will continue through Labor Day. Lacey police, Ralph's Italian Ice on Route 9 North and P.B.A. Local #238 are sponsoring the program, the chief said.

"The coupons are being provided as a community service effort to promote safety and increase the positive interaction between officers and the youth of the community," Paprota said.
