Lacey Lidl Doubles Its Grand-Opening Giveaways

LACEY, NJ — As Lidl and ALDI battle for Lacey grocery-store supremacy, the former just upped the ante. Lidl doubled its gift-card giveaways for Tuesday's grand opening.

Now the first 200 people in line will receive Lidl gift cards, which will range from $5 to $250. Lidl originally planned to give gift cards — ranging from $5 to $100 — to the first 100 customers.

Everyone who signs up for Lidl's newsletter will be entered into a raffle. Lidl will select three people to win a $500 gift card.

Lidl originally planned to open Thursday, Sept. 12, with different perks. But competition changes things. Shortly after ALDI announced it would open Sept. 10, Lidl changed its grand opening to the same day. Read more: Lacey Lidl Moves Grand Opening To Same Day As New ALDI's

Lidl (514 Route 9) will open at 8 a.m., following a 7:40 a.m. ribbon cutting. ALDI's ribbon-cutting ceremony begins at 7:45 a.m at 300 N. Main St.
