Lacey Man Drove Into Tree And Fled, Charged With DWI: Police Blotter
The crash was one of several DWI incidents in the past week, according to the weekly Lacey Township Police Blotter.

LACEY, NJ — Lacey police responded to several DWI incidents this past week, including a hit and run where a driver crashed into a tree and fled, according to the Lacey Township Police Blotter for June 2 through June 9.
DWI/Hit and Run Crash: On Thursday, June 2, 2022, at 6:27 p.m., officers responded to the intersection of Sea Bright Road and Clearwater Drive, for a report of a motor vehicle crash (hit and run). The caller reported that a vehicle crashed into a tree and left the scene. The vehicle was later located a short distance away. Officers identified the driver, Jeremy Hofer, 25, of Beach Boulevard. Investigation at the scene revealed that Hofer had been driving while intoxicated. Hofer was placed under arrest and transported to headquarters, where he was processed. Jeremy was issued several motor vehicle summons including DWI, reckless driving failure to maintain lane, suspended registration, uninsured motor vehicle, leaving the scene of an accident, failure to report an accident and open container. Hofer was later released pursuant to John’s Law.
Shoplifting: On Friday, June 3, 2022, at 7:16 p.m., Officer Hyle responded to Walmart for a report of a male subject who was shoplifting. Upon arrival, Officer Hyle met with the Assistant Manager who pointed out the suspect, Robert J. Thomas, 41, of Jackson, NJ. Investigation at the scene revealed that Thomas utilized a pocket knife to open packages, then conceal them on his person. The total value of the items was $247.00. Thomas was arrested then transported to headquarters processing. Thomas was charged with possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a weapon and shoplifting on a complaint summons. Thomas was served a copy of the complaint and released.

DWI: On Friday, June 3, 2022, at 9:55 p.m., Officer Lee conducted a motor vehicle stop near the intersection of Route 9 South and Taylor Lane. Investigation at the scene revealed that the driver, Joseph Keyrouse, 67, Hadley, NY, was driving while intoxicated. Officer Lee placed Keyrouse under arrest and transported him to headquarters, where he was processed. Keyrouse was charged with several motor vehicle summonses including DWI, reckless driving, failure to maintain lane and refusal to submit breath samples. Keyrouse was released in accordance to John’s Law.
DWI: On Sunday, June 5, 2022, at 5:36 a.m., Officer Ricciardella responded to Wawa, 800 West Lacey Road, for a report of an unresponsive female in a vehicle. Upon arrival officers located a running vehicle with an unconscious female in the driver’s seat. Officers made contact with the female driver, Heatherle Benson, 37, of Toms River, NJ. At the conclusion of the investigation, Benson was placed under arrest for DWI. Heather was also found to be in possession of CDS and drug paraphernalia. Benson was transported to police headquarters where she was processed. Benson was charged criminally on a summons for use/being under the influence of CDS, possession of CDS in an improper container and possession of drug paraphernalia. Benson was also issued motor vehicle summonses for DWI, reckless driving, unlicensed driver, driving while suspended and possession of CDS in a motor vehicle. She was released in accordance with John’s Law.

Criminal Mischief: On Monday, June 6, 2022, at 2:04 p.m., Officer Slota responded to the area of Taylor Lane and Kennebec Rd for a report of graffiti on the sidewalk. Upon arrival, Officer Slota observed symbols written in white paint. The value of damage is estimated at $50.00.
