LACEY, NJ — A local business owner has been awarded by Lacey police for helping to save the life of a customer.

On April 3, Kurt Kruger was shopping at Lacey Marine when a medical episode made his heart stop, causing him to stop breathing and fall to the floor, police said.

An owner of the shop, Dan Tholan, "immediately recognized the need for assistance," police said. Tholan quickly called 911, gave them the information they needed and stayed by Kruger's side.
