Some beards grew faster than others, but donations grew to a $4,591 total for the Lacey police department's No-Shave November fundraiser.

Some beards grew faster than others, but donations grew to a $4,591 total for the No-Shave November fundraiser from Lacey police and first-responders, the police department announced Thursday. Lacey police put away their razors in November to raise awareness and funding for cancer charities.

Officer Frederick Anderson — third from the right in the group photo — won Beard of the Year last week, as voted by his peers. It appears he chose not to keep the beard for the trophy presentation.

Earnings went to charities such as Prevent Cancer Foundation, Fight Colorectal Cancer, and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
