Lacey PD Identifies Victim Of Fatal Accident

LACEY, N.J. — Lacey police identified the woman who died in a head-on crash Tuesday morning on Route 539. Grace M. Havel, 78, of Whiting, was killed in the collision, police said Wednesday morning.

Havel was pronounced dead at the scene. The second driver sustained a minor injury to his left arm and was taken to Southern Ocean County Medical Center in Stafford, police said.

The crash was reported at 11:35 a.m. at milemarker 15.9 of Route 539. Preliminary investigation found Havel appeared to have crossed the center line with her car into the path of a box truck. She was driving north on Route 539, and the truck was driving south, police said.

The accident is under investigation. Anyone who witnessed the crash is asked to contact Officer Darrell Nick of the Lacey Township Police Department at 609-693-6636, ext. 2580.
