Lacey Police Charge Bayville Man With Drunk Driving, Numerous Drug Charges After Accident

Lacey police recently arrested a Bayville man for drunk driving and multiple drug charges after a two-car accident on Route 9 near Bay Way in Forked River, Police Chief Michael C. DiBella said.

Officer Scott Keefe responded to the accident on 8:17 p.m. on Aug. 29. Investigation at the scene lead to the arrest of Christopher Alvarez, 35, Nixon Avenue for drunk driving. He was also in possession of a controlled dangerous substance.

Alvarez was taken to police headquarters, where he was also charged with possession of heroin, possession of heroin with intent to distribute, possession of a prescription legend drug, possession of marijuana under 50 grams and possession of drug paraphernalia DiBella said.

He was charged with driving under the influence, reckless driving, careless driving, possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle, driving an uninsured motor vehicle and improper use of a cell phone, the chief said.

Alvarez's vehicle was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.
