Lacey police recently charged a Belvidere man with driving under the influence after the car he was driving struck a tree on Lanlac Drive near Hill Street, Police Chief David A. Paprota said.
Officer Elton Copes responded to the area at 6:47 p.m. on April 10 on a report of a car that just hit a tree. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of Charles N. Kirkland III, 28, for drunk driving. He was driving a vehicle owned by Francis Faronea, 49, Mizzen Avenue, Beachwood. He was charged with allowing a person under the influence to drive his vehicle, the chief said.
Neither Kirkland or Faronea were injured. They were taken to police headquarters, where Kirkland was also charged with reckless driving and failure to maintain lane, Paprota said.
