Lacey Police To Hold Child Safety Seat Check On Aug. 27

Many child safety seats are the wrong ones for children or are incorrectly installed, police chief said.

Want to make sure your child's safety seat is working correctly and installed properly?

Then come to the Lanoka Harbor Firehouse from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 27 and Lacey Township police officers will check it out for you, Police Chief Michael DiBella said..

Trained and certified child seat technicians from the police department and the Ocean County Sheriff's Department will be on hand to conduct the courtesy check at the firehouse on Route 9 and Warren Avenue. The event will be held rain or shine, the chief said.

"Over 80 percent of child safety seats currently installed in vehicles are either the wrong seats for the child being transported or are incorrectly installed," DiBella said.

Inspections are expected to take approximately 20 minutes per vehicle, he said.
