Lanoka Harbor Man Who Jumped Out Of Moving Car Flown To Jersey Shore, Lacey Police Say

Police found Robert DeSantis, 18, lying on roadway with head injury.

An 18-year-old Hardwood Drive man was flown to Jersey Shore University Medical Center recently after he jumped out of a car while it was moving, Lacey police said.

Officer Jason Lee responded to the intersection of Station Drive and Cherokee Trail in the Barnegat Pines section at 9:27 p.m. on July 10 on a report of an injured man lying in the roadway.

Officers found Robert DeSantis, who appeared to be disoriented because of a head injury. Investigation at the scene determined that he had jumped "intentionally" out of a convertible while it was moving, police said.

The car was driven by a 17-year-old female from Forked River. Lacey EMS responded and DeSantis was flown to Jersey Shore as a result of his injuries.

The accident is under investigation by the police department's Traffic Safety Unit.
