A Letter To The Editor From James K. LeTellier

Former Lacey police officer running for a Lacey Township Committee seat

A Letter to the Editor from James K. LeTellier:

Dear Voters: I have issued several challenges to have debates on all issues. Since none of the other candidates have agreed to participate, it appears that no debate will take place. So to help better inform you the voters, I am posting my platform. Here is what I stand for.

Review Professional Fees! I believe that we need to do a cost analysis of all professional fees for example, comparing the cost for an in-house attorney vs. professional appointees.

Stabilize Our Taxes! I will work with state and federal officials for the construction of a new modern power plant at the Oyster Creek Site; bringing hundreds of new high paying jobs and long term economic stability to Lacey. And to ensure the continuation of the Energy Tax Receipt Aid after Oyster Creek closes.

Develop New Municipal Budgeting Strategies! I will fight for a new approach in developing our municipal budgets. Like the most successful corporations in America, we will institute “Zero Based Budgeting” which requires full justification of each line item, not just adding 2 percent or more over the previous year’s budget.

Put Police Back On The Streets While Saving Taxpayers Money!

I will fight to increase police coverage on our streets. Put our officers back on the road and have civilian clerks enter police reports and data. Hire civilian dispatchers and stop using officers for dispatch.

Planned Development! I will fight to develop a comprehensive master plan that will focus on Lacey’s future, utilizing qualified professional planners that will protect the quality of life we all cherish.

Fight for All Available Money! I will fight for Lacey’s fair share of available federal dollars from the Host Community Fund for the safe storage of the spent fuel rods. This fund has now exceeded $30 Billion Dollars.

Aggressively Seek State And Federal Grant Monies! I will aggressively seek state and federal dollars for all township projects to improve your quality of life (parks, dredging, safe schools, walkways, emergency services, equipment, senior citizen and youth programs, etc.). Lacey needs a professional grant writer who gets paid by the grants they receive for the Township.

Ensure Safe and Navigable Waterways! I will work to establish an ongoing dredging maintenance program for our waterways to ensure the safety of our residents.

Maintain Our Parks and Recreational Programs! I will support maintaining our parks and recreational programs for the enjoyment of all Lacey residents.

Utilize Our Economic Development Commission! I will work with Lacey’s Economic Development Commission to encourage smart growth that will enhance the character of Lacey Township, while
inviting new ratables that bring high paying jobs.

Bring New Industry to Lacey Township! I will support incentives to bring new industry to Lacey Township that will not only help offset your local property and school taxes, but will also create high paying jobs.
