Little Dog Lost In Lacey - Have You Seen Sparky?

Heartbroken family looking for 12-year-old fox terrier in Lacey

by Patricia A. Miller

It’s been 12 years since Lauren Ciccone-Zawada spotted the tiny puppy in a bunny cage at a flea market. Sparky came home with her that day. He’s been with her ever since, until he disappeared on friday.

“He’s attached to my hip,” Ciccone-Zawada said today. “He won’t go anywhere without me. I’m just devastated.”

But it’s been a tumultuous week for the family. They moved into their Edgemere Drive home in Lacey from Mill Creek Road in Bayville on Monday. Ciccone-Zawada was getting ready for work at Central Regional Middle School on Friday morning and her husband was getting their two-year-old daughter ready for day care.

Somehow in the confusion, Sparky bolted out the front door and through a hole in a nearby fence. He hasn’t been seen since.

Sparky is white, with patches of black and brown. He is wearing a blue collar, but is not microchipped.

“He’s very friendly,” Ciccone-Zawada said.

The new house is near a senior citizen development with woods surrounding it and Ciccone-Zawada thinks it’s possible someone took him in. Posters are up, police and local animal shelters have been notified, she said.
