Man Killed After Car Goes Off Road, Flips In Lacey: Police

The car was heading north when it went off the road and hit a pole, then crossed into the south lane, hit the guardrail and flipped: police.

LACEY, NJ — A Forked River man was killed in a late-night crash on a wooded road after his pickup truck hit multiple things and flipped, ejecting him, according to Lacey police.

Police, EMS and Forked River firefighters found the severely damaged 2016 Nissan Frontier overturned in the wooded area of the 2800 block of Dover Road shortly after midnight on Nov. 27, according to a police news release.

The driver, Christopher Winkle, 39, was ejected during the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene from his injuries, police said.

Winkle had been heading north on Dover Road when his pickup truck left the roadway right and collided with a utility pole, went into the southbound lane, hit the guardrail and overturned, police said.

Dover Road was closed for about four hours during the crash investigation.
