Lacey residents might smell smoke throughout Friday.

LACEY, NJ — Lacey residents might smell smoke throughout Friday. Don't be alarmed.

The New Jersey Forest Fire Service will conduct controlled burns throughout the day. Officials will put them around West Lacey Road and Spalding Avenue.

Controlled burning is conducted during cooler months. It reduces fuel buildup and decreases the likelihood of more serious, hotter fires.
