Oyster Creek Taken Offline For Routine Maintenance

Length of outage has not yet been determined, plant spokesperson said.

The Oyster Creek Nuclear Generating Station was taken offline early this morning for planned maintenance in advance of the busy summer season, Exelon spokesperson Suzanne D'Ambrosio said.

The shutdown will insure system reliability and maximum efficiency. All the plant equipment performed as designed during the shutdown, she said.

Technicians will inspect, repair and test several of the plant's mechanical components, including a control rod drive mechanism and pumps and seals that control water flow to equipment, D'Ambrosio said.
