Pedestrian Killed In Lacey Crash: Police

Jeanne Mooney, 53, was walking on Lake Barnegat Drive when she was struck by a Hyundai Elantra, police said.

LACEY, NJ — A pedestrian died last week after being struck by a car in the area of Lake Barnegat Drive, Lacey police said.

Authorities responded to Lake Barnegat Drive and Chelsea Street shortly before 9 a.m. on Jan. 23, police said.

A white 2019 Hyundai Elantra, driven by a 30-year-old Lacey woman, was heading south on Lake Barnegat Drive when the car struck Jeanne Mooney, 53, also of Lacey, police said.

The driver was uninjured, however, Mooney was seriously injured and was flown to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, where she died from her injuries, police said.

Initial investigation revealed that Mooney had entered Lake Barnegat Drive from the area of Chelsea Street when the Hyundai was heading south on the same road, striking her, police said.
