Primary Election Candidates: Who's Running In Lacey

Local candidates have announced that they're running for election. Here's who is running.

LACEY, N.J. — Local candidates have announced they're running for Lacey's Township Committee.

Candidates for the Republican and Democratic primaries had until 4 p.m. on Monday to file petitions for election.

In Lacey, two Democrats and two Republic incumbents entered petitions to run. The term lasts three years, and residents can vote for two.

Here are the candidates:

  • Steven Kennis (R), 204 Plumsted Court, Lanoka Harbor
  • Peter Curatolo (R), 421 Brandywine Drive, Forked River
  • Edward "Ted" Kownacki (D), 22 Ernest Drive, Lanoka Harbor
  • Erik Mazur (D), 408 Cedar Drive, Lanoka Harbor

Kennis and Curatolo currently hold positions on the Township Committee. Their terms are set to end Dec. 31.

Primary voting takes place June 4 from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. The voting registration deadline is May 14 and party affiliation change deadline is April 10.

According to the state, to register to vote in New Jersey, you must be:

  • A United States citizen
  • At least 17 years old, and understand that you may not vote until reaching the age of 18
  • A resident of the county for 30 days before the election
  • Not currently serving a sentence, probation or parole because of a felony conviction
