Prolonged Power Outage Impacts Assisted Living Facility In Lacey

LACEY, NJ — Township officials are helping out residents of a local assisted living facility that, as of Sunday afternoon, was experiencing a prolonged power outage.

Police said that they responded to the Spring Oak Assisted Living Facility at 601 Route 9 North, Lanoka Harbor on Sunday during the outage, which was still going on as of 3:30 p.m.

JCP&L has been made aware of the outage and has been on scene trying to remedy the situation, police said.

Police also notified the Lacey Township Office of Emergency Management, which is helping out on scene. Lanoka Harbor firefighters, the Ocean County Sheriff's Office and the Ocean County EMS Task Force all are assisting, police said.

Some of the home's residents have been picked up by their families, according to police. But there is no mandatory evacuation and residents remain in place, police said.

Cooling measures have been implemented at the facility due to the heat.

The Office of Emergency Management remains on scene to manage and monitor the outage, police said. There was no timeline for power restoration as of 3:30 p.m. Sunday.
