Samuel Abrahamovic, Holocaust Survivor, Dies At 85

He and his wife owned the Captain's Inn Restaurant in Forked River for 40 years.

Samuel Abrahamovic, 85, of Forked River, passed away on his birthday, December 15, 2015.

Sam was born in Czechoslovakia and was one of the few family members to survive the Holocaust. He came to the United States, eventually joined the Army, and sent for the love of his life, his wife Elsa, to join him in America.

He worked in various food service positions eventually becoming the assistant manager and maitre’d of The Bay Head Yacht Club. in 1969 Sam and Elsa purchased the Captain’s inn Restaurant in Forked River where they were the proprietors for nearly 40 years.

Sam was a self-made man and a man of great integrity, loyalty, determination, and strength. He was a founding member of Shore Community Bank in Toms River and a long time member of Temple B’nai Israel in Toms River.

Samuel is survived by his wife of 60 years, Elsa of Forked River; daughter Debbie Abrahamovic Kay and husband Bryan Kay of Forked River; daughter Stella Constandaki and husband Greg Constandaki of Forked River; grandchildren Kyle, Nicole, and Shelby Constandaki and Alexandra Kay.
