LACEY, NJ — Gov. Mikie Sherrill's proposed budget for 2026-27 includes $12.4 billion for aid to the state's 574 public school districts. Here's how much of that will go towards the Lacey Township School District.

On Thursday the state Department of Education released the aid figures for each district. Similar to 2025-26, most aid increases were capped at 6 percent, and the majority of aid cuts were capped at 3 percent.

For the second year in a row, Lacey will see a state aid increase. In the upcoming school year, the district will receive state aid in the amount of $8,162,939. That's a 6 percent, or $462,053 increase over the previous school year.

While the increase is good news for a district that's struggled financially for several years, it won't be enough to make up for what Board President Kimberly Klaus said is a $5 million budget deficit.
