Susan Curtin Of Lanoka Harbor Dies At 61

Susan Curtin of Lanoka Harbor dies at 61.

With immense sadness in our hearts, our beloved Susan passed on as she lived with grace and dignity, forever leaving an unfillable void in our hearts. Surviving Susan is husband John; son, Brian and daughter-in-law Sarah; siblings, Paul Quinn, Gary Quinn and spouse Linda, Carole Roth and spouse Todd, sister-in-laws Loretta and spouse John, Rosie and spouse Rudy, Kathleen and spouse Mitchell, stepmother Peggy, as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family. Susan is predeceased by her parents George and Veronica Quinn of Forked River.

Susan was born on May 11, 1954 in Manhattan and grew up in Dumont, NJ, where at the age of 14 she met John at their high school bus stop. She is a graduate of Immaculate Heart Academy and Caldwell College, where she obtained her undergraduate degree in elementary education. She later obtained her Master’s Degree from Georgian Court University.

John and Susan were married on July 2, 1977 and were blessed to have had 38 joy filled years together, the highlight being the birth of their son Brian who is the light of their life. They resided in Lanoka Harbor, where for over 30 years Susan taught third grade and was a Certified Reading Specialist at Lanoka Harbor Elementary School. Susan was passionate in her profession and strived to make a difference to all her students.

A Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday, September 20, 2015 at Riggs Funeral Home, 130 North Rt. 9 (Main St.), Forked River, NJ 08731. A Mass celebrating Susan’s life will be offered at 11 a.m. on Monday at St. Joseph’s RC Church, 509 Hooper Ave, Toms River, NJ 08753. Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Toms River.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the Lacey Food Bank, C/O The Administrator, 818 West Lacey Rd., Forked River, NJ 08731 in Susan’s memory.
