Thefts And Counterfeit Money: Lacey Police Blotter

LACEY, NJ — Multiple thefts and attempted use of counterfeit money happened recently in Lacey, according to the Lacey Township police blotter for April 28 through May 5.

Motor Vehicle Burglary: On April 28, 2022, at 10:39 a.m., Officer Carver responded to the 1200 block of Plover Court for a report of a vehicle burglary. The caller reported someone entered their unsecured vehicle and stole $1,000 worth in property. This case is under investigation.

Shoplifting: On April 30, 2022, at 2:19 p.m., Officer D’Antonio and Officer Hutman responded to Walmart for a report of a female shoplifter in custody. Upon arrival officers met with the loss prevention employee, who stated he observed Frances Bezak, 70, of Waretown, attempt to steal $145.53 worth of merchandise from the store. At the conclusion of the investigation, Bezak was placed under arrest and transported to headquarters for processing. Bezak was charged with shoplifting on a complaint summons and released.

Driving While Intoxicated: On May 1, 2022, at 2:58 p.m., Officer Lee responded to the parking lot of Lidl, for a report of an unconscious female, slumped over the steering wheel. Upon arrival Officer Lee located the vehicle and made contact with the driver, London Herrmann, 34, of 24 South Street. Officer Lee later conducted standardized field sobriety tests and determined Herrmann was under the influence. Herrmann was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters for processing. Herrmann was released after being issued multiple summonses including DWI, reckless driving, unlicensed driver and driving under the influence with a minor in the vehicle.

Forgery (Counterfeit Money): On Monday, May 2, 2022, at 5:55 p.m., Officer Ravallo and Officer Lapeshko responded to Family Dollar, for a report of two suspicious males, attempting to pass counterfeit money. Upon arrival officers met with the store employee, who reported two unknown males attempted to purchase merchandise with counterfeit money. The employee explained one of the suspects attempted to use four one hundred dollar bills, which appeared counterfeit. The employee stated once the actors were told they could not be used, the left the store. This investigation is ongoing.
