Toms River Man Swallows Heroin After Lacey Motor Vehicle Stop

David Rivera, 23, grabbed wax fold of heroin and ingested it after police officer spotted it, police said.

A Toms River man swallowed a wax fold of heroin after Lacey Patrolman Jesse Dalziel spotted it behind the passenger seat passenger seat of his car during a motor vehicle stop, police said

Dalziel stopped David Rivera, 23, Board Street in the area of Alpine Street and Harrison Avenue in Forked River at 3:25 p.m. on July 15, police said.

Daziel saw a single wax fold of heroin behind the seat, but Rivera grabbed the heroin and swallowed it, according to the police report.

Rivera was charged with destruction of evidence, possession of a controlled dangerous substance, and possession of a hypodermic syringe. He was also charged with driving with a suspended license and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle. He also had an active $1,000 warrant out of Stafford Township for contempt of a municipal ordinance violence, police said.
