Vehicle Stop Near Municipal Building Leads To Heroin Arrests: Cops

Driver was originally pulled over for outstanding warrants, Lacey police chief says.

Lacey police recently arrested three people on drug charges after Officer Dimitrios Tsarnas conducted a motor vehicle stop on Municipal Lane, Police Chief David A. Paprota said.

Melissa A. Szewczyk, 21, Chester Avenue, Whiting, had two outstanding Lakewood warrants totaling $2,850. Police discovered she had a hypodermic syringe and 31 wax heroin folds. Fourteen wax folds were empty and 17 contained small quantities of heroin, the chief said.

The rear seat passenger, Glenn Jones Jr., 28, Stephanie Court, Forked River had a full wax fold of heroin and eight empty wax folds of heroin. The front seat passenger, Crystal Clancy, 23, Holmes Avenue, Forked River had a green straw with burnt residue and four empty wax folds of heroin, the chief said.

All three suspects were arrested and taken to police headquarters. Szewczyk was charged with possession of heroin, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a hypodermic syringe. Municipal Court Judge Damian G. Murray set her bail at $20,000. She was taken to the Ocean County Jail in Toms River, Paprota said.

Jones was charged with possession of heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia. Clancy was charged with two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, the chief said.
