The mailers solicit donations for the "National Police Association" to support a "Quality of Life Petition," police said.

LACEY, NJ — Scam letters are targeting Lacey residents in an attempt to solicit donations for an organization that promises to use funds to promote "quality of life policing" - but it actually has no impact on anything in Lacey, local police warn.
Letters from the "National Police Association" have been sent to residents, "requesting funds to increase safety in bad neighborhoods, protect against lawsuits, and to support the 'Forked River City Council' under the guise of a 'Quality of Life Petition,'" police said in a fraud alert posting.
"None of this is true," Lacey police said.
