Wreaths Across America Volunteers Celebrated By Lacey Committee

LACEY, NJ — It is often said that many hands make light work. And thanks to the many volunteers who helped at Good Luck Cemetery during Wreaths Across America in December, nearly 500 wreaths were laid upon the graves of veterans.

"I've always said that the volunteers in this township make this township," Mayor Timothy McDonald said at a recent Township Committee meeting, where Jennifer Iapicco, leader of Lacey's Wreaths Across America, and several other volunteers were honored with a proclamation.

The ceremony would not have been possible without the hard work of Iapicco and her volunteers, along with many other residents and groups that assisted, the proclamation said.

"We here in Lacey have so much to be proud of," Committeewoman PeggySue Juliano said. "I was really thrilled to see how well it turned out for all the hard work that you did."

Committeeman Peter Curatolo specifically thanked Vietnam veterans, noting that while some in the audience were out there fighting in 1968, he was only a baby.

"I love you. And I'm very, very grateful you did what you did," Curatolo told the veterans.

Deputy Mayor Steven Kennis also thanked the volunteers, saying that what the organization does "keeps that small town feel" in Lacey.

"To see somebody pick the ball up and run with it more or less and do what Jen did for us is just, you can't describe it in words," said Bernie Snyder from the Veterans Commission.
