5 Lakewood Officers Monitored After Possible Measles Exposure
A person who was arrested may have been exposed to the measles and may have exposed the officers, Lakewood police said.
LAKEWOOD, NJ — Five Lakewood police officers remained out of work on Wednesday pending follow-up visits with their doctors after they were possibly exposed to measles by someone who had been arrested by the department, Lakewood police said.
The five officers came in contact with the person on Monday, Lakewood Capt. Gregory Staffordsmith said.
The person may have been exposed to the measles virus, Staffordsmith said, but the department was still awaiting confirmation as to whether the person was indeed infected. They expect to receive information on that soon, he said.

The officers were sent to Monmouth Medical Southern Campus for an evaluation and all were reported to be in good health, Staffordsmith said. None were showing any signs or symptoms of the measles.
"They are all expected to return to full duty after they are seen and cleared by a physician, at their follow-up appointments today and tomorrow," he said.
