Another Pedestrian Death In Ocean County: Report
Breaking: The report said the incident happened on Route 70 in Lakewood.

LAKEWOOD, NJ — Another pedestrian has been killed on Ocean County's roads, according to a report.
The Lakewood Scoop reported the pedestrian was struck on Route 70 in Lakewood near Vermont Avenue on Sunday evening, quoting police. The incident happened about 6:40 p.m., according to the report.
It is the second pedestrian death in Ocean County in 2018 and follows a December where seven people were struck and killed on county roads.

It also follows a traffic safety campaign in Lakewood in December that aimed to emphasize safe driving after a spike in traffic fatalities in the township in 2017.
Authorities across the county, including the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office, have been imploring pedestrians and drivers to exercise more caution. It led to the Toms River Police Department sharing a video last week compiled by a delivery driver from footage recorded on his dashcam that highlighted pedestrian near-misses and other dangerous situations.

There were 13 pedestrians and four bicyclists killed on Ocean County roads in 2017, up from 8 pedestrians and one bicyclist in 2016.
On Jan. 3, Peggy Acquisto, 42, of Whiting, was hit and killed while crossing Route 70 in Lakehurst about 10:30 p.m., police said.
