Heavy Rain Flooding Lakewood Roads, Route 9 Closed: Report
Police are urging motorists to exercise caution as a flash flood warning is in effect.

LAKEWOOD, NJ — Heavy rain overnight has caused flooding of some streets in Lakewood, according to a report, and more is possible as the rain continues to fall Monday morning.
The Lakewood Scoop tweeted that Route 9 has been closed between Pine and Prospect streets and that "multiple vehicles" have become stuck in water on flooded roads around the towmship.
The National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning for Ocean County that is in effect until at least 12:30 p.m., the service said.

Lakewood police said forecasters predict heavy rainfall at rates of 1 inch or more per hour and said streams could overflow in flood-prone areas.
