Man Sought After Carjacking Victim Escapes In Lakewood
The man asked for directions then pounded on the woman's window until it broke, police said.

LAKEWOOD, NJ — Authorities in Lakewood are still searching for a man following a carjacking early Wednesday morning where a woman escaped from the moving car as he drove away.
The 20-year-old Lakewood woman told police she was sitting in her silver 2018 Hyundai Sonata in the area of Route 9 and Liberty Drive after midnight when an unidentified man approached her and asked for directions, Lakewood Capt. Gregory Staffordsmith said.
The man started pounding on her car window until it broke, then got in the car and shoved her to the passenger side, Staffordsmith said. As the man started to drive off, the woman got out of the moving car and was injured in the process.

Staffordsmith said she was evaluated for minor injuries at Monmouth Medical Center Southern Campus in Lakewood.

The suspect is described as being about 6 feet tall and having blond hair drove off in the woman's car in an unknown direction.
