Man Sought In Bank Robberies In Lakewood: Police

The man succeeded in getting cash from one of the banks, police said.

LAKEWOOD, NJ — Authorities are investigating two bank robberies — one of which was successful — that happened Friday afternoon in Lakewood, police said.

The first one happened at 3:01 p.m. when a man walked into the Wells Fargo branch at 425 West Kennedy Blvd. and handed the teller a note demanding money, Capt. Gregory Staffordsmith said.

No money was handed over and the man left on foot, Staffordsmith said.

At 3:08 p.m. the man walked into the TD Bank at 1601 Madison Ave. and handed the teller a note demanding money, and left with at least $1,000, Staffordsmith said.

The man was last seen walking west on East County Line Road from Madison Avenue, he said.

He did not show a weapon at either location, Staffordsmith said.
