• Lakewood Man Jailed for Burning Down Home on Delaware Trail (shorenewsnetwork.com) — A Lakewood man has been jailed on aggravated arson charges after an August 25 house fire on Delaware Trail that drew a major response from Lakewood police and firefighters. Investigators say they identified 48-year-old Yaakov Stern as the suspect, arrested him on September 3, and are holding him in Ocean County Jail pending a detention hearing while they continue reviewing damage and any injuries.

• UPDATE: Chip-Enabled EBT Cards Now Available Statewide In New Jersey (thelakewoodscoop.com) — Hundreds of Lakewood families who previously had SNAP or WFNJ benefits stolen are now getting added protection as New Jersey rolls out chip-enabled EBT cards statewide. Residents will automatically receive upgraded cards with enhanced security features, must activate them within 90 days, and are urged to use chip or tap-to-pay, monitor balances, and lock cards when not in use.
