Speeding Lakewood Driver Charged With DWI: Police
Felipe Cruz-Gomez was pulled over after police received a report of an erratic driver.

LAKEWOOD, NJ — A Lakewood man who was speeding through downtown has been charged with driving under the influence after a motor vehicle stop early Monday, police said.
Felipe Cruz-Gomez, 32, of Lakewood, was charged and released pending a future court date, Lakewood Detective Sgt. Gregory Staffordsmith said.
Officer Christopher Dunphy received a radio transmission about 12:45 a.m. Monday about an erratic driver operating a silver-colored Kia, and within minutes saw a car matching that description enter the intersection of Main Street and Clifton Avenue at a high rate of speed, Staffordsmith said.

Cruz-Gomez was stopped and appeared to be intoxicated, Staffordsmith said, and subsequently failed several sobriety tests at the scene.
Further investigation, with the assistance of Police Officer Tymur Zavalnyuk and Sgt. Michael Marzocca resulted in the arrest of Gomez, Staffordsmith said. He was charged with driving while under the influence and received numerous accompanying motor vehicle summonses, Staffordsmith said.
