Former Mercer County Freeholder Anthony Carabelli Dies At 88
Carabelli was also a Trenton City Council member from 1970 to 1982. He retired from public office in 2016.
MERCER COUNTY, NJ — Anthony Carabelli, who served for more than three decades as a Mercer County freeholder died at home on Sept. 8. He was 88.
Carabelli was born in Trenton and was a Trenton City Council member from 1970 to 1982. He retired from public office in 2016, following which Trenton named a street after him. Carabelli moved to Hamilton Township in 2014.
A devoted Catholic and family man, Carabelli was a member of The Fermi Federation, Knights of Columbus, Italian American Hall of Fame, Italian American Sportsman Club and the Kiwanis Club of Trenton among other organizations, according to his obituary.

He received his undergraduate degree from Georgetown University and attended Rider College for his masters degree.
Carabelli was employed with the New Jersey department of Community Affairs in 1967.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday at 10:30 a.m., at Our Lady of the Angels Parish/St. Joachim Church, 20-56 Butler Street, Trenton. Entombment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery Mausoleum, 1200 Cedar Lane, Hamilton.
Relatives and friends can pay their respects to Carabelli’s family on Thursday, Sept. 14, from 3-7 p.m. and Friday from 9:15a.m. - 10:15 a.m. at the church.
