Two teens were arrested for peeing on a student and using racial slurs during a football game Friday night, police said.

LAWRENCE TOWNSHIP, NJ — Two teens from Lawrence Township have been arrested for peeing on a middle school student while yelling racial slurs at her during a football game Friday night, the Lawrence Township Police Department announced.
They were not identified by name, but police said they are two 17-year-old boys.
They have been charged with multiple counts of harassment, bias intimidation and lewdness, police said. The Lawrence Township Public School District echoed Lawrence Township Mayor Christopher Bobbitt’s sentiment that, “hate has no home in Lawrence Township.”

The police department will join officials from the township and the school district to discuss the case during a press conference Tuesday morning, police said Monday.
"I was and am deeply disturbed by the account of the incident on Facebook," Lawrence Township Mayor Christopher Bobbit said in a post on social media on Saturday. "As I have said publicly before, hate has no home in Lawrence Township. As someone that has felt its sting, I know that bigotry exists and sadly will continue to exist but that doesn't mean that I give up. Instead, I look to find allies that will help me fight the cancer of bigotry. When an antisemitic incident occurred in Lawrence, I joined with allies in Trenton to speak out publicly against bigotry against our Jewish brothers and sisters. Now it is time to find out what happened last night and to deal with it appropriately."

The alleged incident took place during the Lawrence High School football team’s home game against Steinert on Oct. 18. The girl is an African American seventh-grader at Lawrence Middle School, according to The Trentonian.
Residents in both Lawrence and across the state condemned the incident on social media.
"Hatred should never be a part of any community," one resident wrote.
"I do not live in Lawrence, but I am deeply disturbed that this incident took place in my home state," another wrote. "Please know that people all over NJ are with you here!"
The police department thanked school officials, Lawrence Township residents and the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office for their help with the investigation, police said. Anyone with additional information regarding the incident is asked to call Detective Dan Gladney or Lt. Joseph Lech at 609-896-1111.
