2 Charged After QuickChek Argument Leads To Shooting In Mercer: Police

Ashley Stehr of Ewing and Shihee Fowler of Trenton were charged with criminal attempt homicide and other offenses, Hamilton Police said.

MERCER COUNTY, NJ — Two Mercer County residents were charged after an altercation at a local QuickChek ended in a shooting, Hamilton Police said. No injuries were reported.

Ashley Stehr, 29, of Ewing and Shihee Fowler, 36, of Trenton were charged with criminal attempt homicide, possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose, and unlawful possession of a weapon.

On Feb. 17 around 4:03 a.m., Hamilton Police responded to Ellwood Street on a report of shots fired. On arrival, officers found broken glass in the middle of the street.

The victims and their vehicle were found in the parking lot of the QuickChek on South Olden Avenue.

The man and woman told police that there was an argument with Fowler in the parking lot of QuickChek over comments made inside the store to the woman. Fowler then entered a black vehicle that Stehr was driving, police said.

The unnamed couple then left the parking lot in their vehicle and drove to Ellwood Street where they parked. Shortly after the other vehicle pulled alongside and fired into their vehicle. The victims then drove back to QuickChek for help, police said.

Based on surveillance video, police found that a vehicle pulled up in front of the vehicle parked on Ellwood Street, and Fowler yelled at the couple in the parked car and fired seven shots at the vehicle, police said.

The police department issued an alert and Ewing Police identified Stehr and the Mercer County Prosecutors Office identified Fowler.

The Hamilton Police Anti-Crime Unit located Stehr at her home in Ewing at 8:27 p.m. and placed her under arrest. They also located Fowler in Trenton at 9:45 p.m. and placed him under arrest.

Stehr and Fowler were taken to the Mercer County Correctional Center pending a detention hearing.
