2 Charged For Shooting At Man Walking D&R Canal Trail In Lawrence

The shooting occurred Aug. 24, and no injuries were reported. Two Lawrence Township residents have been charged, police said.

LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ — Two township residents have been charged with aggravated assault and other offenses after they shot at a man walking on the Lawrence section of the Delaware and Raritan Canal State Park Trail, Lawrence police said Wednesday.

Jay Bernard, 46, and Anne Hurchick, 47, of the 3000 block of Brunswick Pike, Lawrenceville have been charged with aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.

On Aug. 24, Lawrence police received a call from a man who said that he was shot at by an unknown person while walking the trail. The man was not injured. More: Man Shot At While Walking D&R Canal Trail In Lawrence: Police

The shooting occurred adjacent to the footbridge connecting the trail system over Brunswick Pike, just north of Bakers Basin Road, police said.

When officers arrived, they heard gunfire coming from the wooded area. Officers found spent shell casings as well, police said.
