2 Mercer Cops Face Additional Charges In Bordentown Motel Fight

Tara Drurkoc and Matthew Sickler were previously charged with simple assault after a fight at the Best Western Inn, an official said.

MERCER COUNTY, NJ — Two law enforcement officers from Mercer County now face new charges following a fight at a Bordentown Township motel last month, authorities said.

Trenton Police Officer Tara Drurkoc, Mercer Sheriff’s officer Matt Sickler were charged with simple assault following a fight with Christopher Lopez of Pennsylvania at the Best Western Inn on U.S. Route 206, according to police.

Drurkoc and Sickler were recently charged with obstruction of law enforcement after telling responding officers that their name was Erin Harhay, police said on Tuesday.

Sickler was additionally charged with hindering apprehension for the same allegation, police said.

Following the fight, Sickler was put on desk duty while the incident was being investigated, a spokesperson from the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office told Patch on Aug. 30. Dzurkoc was suspended without pay from the Trenton police force pending the outcome of the investigation, NJ.com reported on Aug. 29.
