5 People Shot, 1 Dead In This NJ City. What We Know:

Devante Taylor was killed in a triple shooting; a second shooting days later left two more hospitalized as no arrests have been made.

MERCER COUNTY, NJ - Five people were shot in Trenton over the span of a week, including one fatally, according to various news reports.

Devante Taylor, 31, of Trenton, was killed in the first shooting, which occurred around 11 p.m. on April 6, at the Donnelly Homes complex on Southard Street, according to The Trentonian. Taylor, who sustained multiple gunshot wounds, died Wednesday evening at Capital Health Regional Medical Center. Two other men — a 46-year-old and a 26-year-old, both Trenton residents — were wounded in the same shooting and remained in stable condition as of Friday.

A second shooting struck the city on April 13, near South Cook Avenue and Tioga Street, where a 20-year-old and a 26-year-old were shot and hospitalized in stable condition, according to NBC Philadelphia. The Mercer County Shooting Response Team is investigating that incident.

The Trenton Community Street Team, which operates within Donnelly Homes, has announced a community "response walk" to address the surge in violence, a member of the organization told News 12.
