College Field Hockey: Rider University 3, Siena College 1
After four straight games on the road, the Rider University field hockey team returned to the friendly confines of Ben Cohen Field and defeated Siena College 3-1 on Friday afternoon (Oct. 19).

After four straight games on the road, the Rider University field hockey team returned to the friendly confines of Ben Cohen Field and defeated Siena College 3-1 on Friday afternoon (Oct. 19) in a Northeast Conference game, led by a goal and assist from freshman Allison Muschs (Linkebeek, Belgium).
Junior Sandra Penas (Barcelona, Spain) got Rider (10-5, 3-1 NEC) on the board just 8:32 into the game, splitting the Saint defense up the middle of the field for her NEC leading 11th goal of the season.

The Broncs took a 2-0 lead less than three minutes before halftime with Muschs taking a shot from the top of the circle for her fifth goal of the year and Rider led by two at intermission.
Senior Marlaine Schneider (Feasterville, Pa./Neshaminy) scored her seventh goal of the season on a corner play with Muschs and sophomore Eefje Kok (Berkel Enschot, Netherlands) providing the assists as Rider took a 3-0 lead with 20:37 left in the contest.

Siena hit the back of the cage with 3:17 left in the game for the final score.
Rider out-shot the Saints 35-2, 22-2 in shots on goal.
The Broncs held a 20-2 penalty corner advantage.
Beth Meyers made 19 saves for Siena (0-12, 0-4 NEC).
Freshman Joelle Prettyman (Newark, Del./St. Mark’s) made one save for the Broncs, picking up her fourth win of the season.
Rider defeated Siena 8-0 in Loudonville in 2011, 5-0 in Lawrenceville in 2010 and the Broncs defeated the Saints 5-0 in 2009 and 3-0 in 2008. The Broncs have won 23 of the 26 games all-time against Siena including the last 13 in a row.
Rider has now won 21 of 22 games all-time on the campus turf field, which opened in the fall of 2010.
The Broncs hosts Bryant University on Sunday at noon in an NEC contest.
The game is Rider’s annual participation in Play 4 The Cure, to raise awareness and donations in the fight against breast cancer to benefit the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
