College Field Hockey: Rider's Muschs Honored by the Northeast Conference

Freshman Allison Muschs of the Rider University field hockey team was honored as the Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week.

SOMERSET - Freshman Allison Muschs (Linkebeek, Belgium) of the Rider University field hockey team was honored as the Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week it was announced Monday afternoon (Sept. 24).

Muschs was honored for all games Sept. 17-23.

Muschs was named the NEC Rookie of the Week for the second time this season after scoring on a penalty stoke in Rider’s loss to perennial power Lock Haven as the Broncs went 1-1 this past week.

Muschs has three goals for Rider (6-2) this season, all on penalty strokes.

This is the fourth week in a row that Rider has had a rookie earn the weekly NEC Honor with freshman goalie Alicia Carthan recognized Sept. 17, Rachel Ippolite (Woolwich Twp./Kingsway Regional) honored Sept. 10 and Muschs recognized on Sept. 4.

In the 13 seasons under head coach Lori Hussong, this is the 41st time that Rider has had a conference Rookie of the Week honoree.

Rider travels to Lafayette on Tuesday evening.  The game was originally started on Sept. 7 and suspended due to lightning with less than seven minutes left in the opening half and the Leopards ahead 2-0.
